The program includes Pre-Season Baseline Testing and Post-Injury Assesment for both Neuro-Physical and Neuro-Cognitive Testing.   New requirements and guidelines for athletes at the professional, collegiate and scholastic levels have made Concussion Management an integral part of an athlete's seasonal preparation.

NHC Chattanooga Offers New Program For Older Adults

NHC Chattanooga has introduced a life-saving program for older adults: the Biodex Fall Risk Screening and Conditioning Program. This program can help determine who is at risk of falling by identifying "risk factors" in just a few minutes. If a patient is found to be at risk of falling, a series of suggested interventions can be offered.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Former New England Revolution star Taylor Twellman said Friday that the Major League Soccer team ignored his symptoms of multiple concussions, even sending him back on the field after he said, "I have a concussion," following the hit that eventually forced him to retire.

Twellman, the keynote speaker at a conference on brain trauma, said the trainer instead asked him his name, the score of the game and to count backward from 100 before telling him he doesn't have a concussion and sending him back into the game. >>

Adult & Child Therapy Services Provides Fall Risk Screenings

A fall is one of the major fears for older adults and their loved ones. Thanks to a grant from Washington Square Health Foundation, Inc., Adult & Child Therapy Services is offering a way of clinically assessing the likelihood of a fall for older adults in the community.

Adult & Child Therapy Services has a variety of state-of-the-art equipment. One of these pieces of equipment includes the Biodex Balance System SD. The Balance System SD provides clinical protocol to determine if clients are at risk of a fall. It also determines if a patient is compensating for an injury and what areas need to be worked on to build strength, improve balance, maintain independence and improve mobility. This system is consistent with the American Geriatric Society's clinical guidelines for prevention of a fall in an older adult. >>
