BIODEX PRESS RELEASE: Lila Corwin

February 2, 2016, Shirley, NY – Biodex Medical Systems, Inc. will be introducing three new products at this year’s annual APTA Combined Sections Meeting in Anaheim. Attendees are invited to learn more about the Sit2Stand™ Trainer, VibroTactile™ System and the medBike® at Biodex booth #525.

The Biodex Sit2Stand Trainer

Strengthen muscles associated with rising
from seated position.

Train and reinforce sit-to-stand motion while providing the patient a safe environment

Designed to address proper biomechanics, the Biodex Sit2Stand Trainer is ideal for strengthening the muscles associated with rising from a seated position.

The assistance selector, an exclusive Biodex design, features the capability to perform graded concentric and eccentric exercise throughout the sit-to-stand motion. The selector also provides the option to perform gentle, progressive plyometrics for developing fast-twitch fibers, which are so important for older adults.

“We are excited to exhibit our new device, the Sit2Stand Trainer,” states Don Gronachan, Vice President Physical Medicine Sales. “Our goal in developing this device is to offer facilities a training tool to aid older adults in gaining or maintaining independence. We created the Sit2Stand to benefit weakened, older or sedentary patients and residents.”

Biodex Balance Technology: Vibration cueing aids sensory biofeedback

The Biodex VibroTactile System

Vibrotactile cueing allows patients to receive positional feedback with their eyes closed.

Patients with vestibular challenges are overly dependent on visual and somatosensory systems. To really focus on the vestibular system, particularly for balance training, the visual sense needs to be eliminated.

Vibrotactile cueing heightens the therapy process by adding a mechanized, reproducible sense, allowing patients to receive positional feedback with their eyes closed.

Once integrated with the Balance System™ SD or the portable BioSway™, the optional VibroTactile™ System offers an additional form of sensory feedback to help detect changes in postural sway. Using wireless technology, the tactile belt responds with a vibrating sensation when the patient sways outside the therapist-set parameters.

Motion exercise for individuals with physical limitations

Biodex is proud to be the exclusive US distributor of medBike®. Ideal for independent use by individuals in their home, or in neurorehabilitation settings, SNFs, rehabilitation hospitals, and even private practice. medBike can be used comfortably from any chair, including a wheelchair.

Proven to be very effective for MS and Parkinson’s disease, the motion training of medBike helps loosen and strengthen muscles and reduce spasticity. The Continuous Control System avoids overstraining the lower- and upper-leg muscles, creating safe exercise conditions.

Biodex Medical Systems, Inc. devices address all disciplines of physical medicine including Senior Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine/Orthopedic, Neurorehabilitation, Post-Acute Care and Wellness Conditioning.

APTA Combined Sections Meeting takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA, February, 18-20, 2016.  You are invited to visit Biodex Booth #525 for device demonstrations, including the Balance System SD, BioStep 2, Gait Trainer 3, Unweighing System, System 4 Dynamometer or any of the new products being featured.
