The ability to stand from a seated position is an important movement performed many times throughout the day. It is one of the most fundamental motions required for a greater quality of life and functional independence. The new Sit2Stand is designed to address proper biomechanics in order to provide the lower body strength required to achieve the sit-to-stand motion. Shirley, NY – October 29, 2014 – Biodex Medical Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has formed a Preferred Vendor Partnership with Concussion Health. The partnership creates a symbiotic relationship in which education and balance assessment are used to follow best practices in the management of concussion, including both testing and rehabilitation.

Today, proper evaluation of concussion should include baseline Balance Assessment, Cognitive Assessment and Graded Symptoms Checklist. By combining Biodex Balance Assessment with Concussion Health education, practitioners will be better able to understand the rehabilitation component of a concussion program, become recognized as a Certified Concussion Provider, and will be able to offer a truly comprehensive program for concussion management.

Biodex is addressing the importance of Medicare reimbursement and continuity of care with the addition of automated G-code calculation and impairment level reports.  The enhanced objective reporting includes impairment percent with associated modifier code, functional limitation G‐code categories, and patient status (current and discharge).

February 19, 2014, Shirley, NY – Biodex Medical Systems is pleased to announce the addition of the Balance System SD into the Fall Risk Screening Program of Glenwood Care Facility, Oxnard, CA.

Glenwood is a skilled nursing facility that provides short-term rehabilitation as well as long-term care. The goal at Glenwood is to provide patients with premier care and get them back home.  The numbers exemplify Glenwood’s success; 97% of those admitted to Glenwood either go home or to a lower level of care.

Glenwood continually looks to improve its rehabilitation services with new techniques and technology.  One of the areas of focus for changing the image of the facility was the way the rehabilitation process was being viewed.  “We were looking to move away from passive therapy to active therapy,” explains Dave Merkley, Executive Director of Glenwood.  The decision was made to add the Biodex Balance System SD to their rehabilitation program as part of this move in a new direction.  >>
