(LANCASTER, TX) – Windsor Gardens, Lancaster's own senior rehabilitation and continuing care center, announced today the addition of a state-of-the-art Biodex Balance System to their on-premise clinical therapy suite of equipment. The Biodex system is a comprehensive and versatile balance testing and training tool designed to help clinical therapists screen, condition and strengthen patients struggling with core balance issues.
"Falls are a common cause of serious and even life threatening danger among seniors," said Dr. Avian Kidd, medical director for Windsor Gardens. "Our new Biodex system will help us perform an initial fall risk assessment for our patients and implement treatment plans that can achieve marked improvement in ambulatory activities in 4 to 6 weeks."
It only takes a patient two minutes standing on a Biodex platform to determine their ability to maintain safe balance. The system provides a clinical report of the test and can then be used to implement a wide variety of balance-related exercises.
"We expect this system will help us improve our patients' abilities to achieve and maintain personal independence," said Dr. Kidd. "Adding the Biodex to our already advanced capabilities will only improve our clinical outcomes."
Windsor Gardens offers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services supported by advanced, specialized equipment and practices aimed at treating a variety of sub-acute and chronic medical conditions, including fall risks related to balance disturbance, knee or hip replacements or other neurological disorders.
As a continuing care facility, Windsor Gardens provides resort style amenities, in addition to a state-of-the-art therapy gym, making it an attractive option for both short and long-term rehabilitation programs. Owned and operated by Cantex Continuing Care Network, the property features private and semi-private rooms, salon services, a chapel, library and restaurant-style dining.
In addition to Dr. Kidd, the medical staff includes a physiatrist, licensed therapists, registered and licensed nurses and a social services coordinator. All forms of insurance are accepted.
