What is a Isokinetic Testing Machine?

Before we answer this question, the average person might be asking what language we are even speaking.

Don’t worry, it is english.

bio-

a combining form meaning “life” occurring in loanwords from Greek. Origin: combining form of Greek bíos  life; akin to Latin vīvus  living, Sanskrit jīvas.

-dex

referring to computers.

isokinetic

pertaining to an exercise providing variable resistance to a movement at a constant speed, with the assistance of specialized equipment.

It is also not the modern revival of a medieval torture device.

Biodex System 4

InjuryFree Inc. uses these Biodex Isokinetic testing machines in their Employee Maintenance Centers to measure muscle strength and identify potentially harmful weaknesses.

While it might look intimidating, the machine is designed for comfort and practicality.

The theory behind isokinetic testing is muscle movement isolation. You would be amazed at how one little change in how you move can change which muscles you are using. By isolating the muscle groups and testing how much they can handle, therapists and personal trainers can identify where you are weakest and what movements might be contributing to that sore back or shoulder.

The machine’s main function is to improve your function. All of the different factors that can effect your movement can be measured and replicated exactly with the machine.

To see why this is so important, try reaching your hand above your head. Now turn your wrist out just a little. Now bend your elbow just a little bit. How fast was your hand moving? what direction was your elbow facing when you raised your hand? Forward or to the side?

See how many different factors can effect your movement and the types of muscles you use? The human body is certainly a complex machine.

Now, timidly, you might ask, “does it hurt?”

No. If you experience pain, the Employee Maintenance Center professional is there to help you out.

When using the Biodex testing machine, you will never encounter more resistance than they are capable of applying.
